Sandra asks…
what can I use to color black faded outdoor rubber on a car?
The areas that are faded are like the luggage rack on top of the car‘s roof and around the windows of the doors that are black molded plastic.
Thanks James R
I will give that a try!

Mothers Back to Black works well at restoring faded color. It may take several applications to have it looking new. There are more similar products you could use also. You should be able find them at an auto parts store, NAPA, Advance Auto, Auto Zone, etc.

Is it possible to tie luggage to the roof of my chevy Uplander (mini van) without rails?
We are going on vacation and we need to put luggage on the roof of our mini van. The problem is the roof of our car is naked. Is there any way to tie luggage to the roof of the van? Or are there any removable luggage racks we could put on the van?

Don’t think that would be very safe. Roof racks certainly used to be available that attached to the gutter rails at the sides by means of an adjustable clamp. The roof rack ‘sat’ on 4 large rubber suckers on the roof of the vehicle. If this is any good you could try any motor accessory shop or try ‘roof rack’ in Google etc.
If you don’t have ‘gutters’ maybe one of the ‘enclosed’ type could be used but I don’t anything about them. Talk to your local garage or e-mail your main dealer.
Best of luck.

Ski rack w/ twin tips?
I notice when people put ski’s on their car roof racks they are placed backwards so the wind doesn’t catch the tips. Twin tip ski’s on a roof rack?
admin answers:
If your ski rack is “tall” enough, you can put the skis in tips down.

Mary asks…
Why does my car make a foghorn-like sound from the left rear when I go 37 mph or 55 mph??
The dealer said it was the new tires, and that 17” wheels have thinner tires, so you get more road noise.
I thought it might be in the back right wheel, or maybe the roof rack. It’s a low hoooot, not an awful noise, but it’s like when you blow on a bottle at the right angle and get a deep tone.
And about the speed, when i go above or below those 2 speeds the noise fades away.
Got any clues?
BTW the car is in great condition, runs great, and I just bought it used (certified, still under warranty), and I’m taking it in this weekend, but I want to be informed when I go in.
It has a turbo engine. Could that be the noise?
It’s not very loud, like if I’m blasting music I don’t hear it, but I have to get it fixed or it will bug me. I hate little noises.

Sounds like your wheel bearings are in need of replacement

Thomas asks…
car roof load laws/highway code?
So me and some friends are planning a trip to the beach… End of exams, summer thing. A mate and i have some surfboards that we want to take and I have bought a soft FCS rack. Now this isn’t the sort of thing that I get worried about but its my mums car, a hatchback skoda fabia. So I just need to know what the load rules are. Im pretty sure that it wont be overloaded with the weight but what are the laws and highway code on overhang? Thanks, cant find the answer easily. If you have a website that gives the information please post it

A Skoda dealer will tell you instantly if you phone them.
